ArtsaRound Pre-Collegiate Scholarship for Supplemental Art Classes for Grades 8-11
ArtsaRound offers a pre-collegiate art scholarship to a Pickaway County art student in grades 8-11. The award is determined on a competitive basis and requires the submission of a digital portfolio. Students must be nominated for this scholarship by the Art Teacher from their local school. The student does not need to be taking an art class currently. The application process usually begins in February-March with the winner notified in April-May.
The pre-collegiate scholarship is for a Pickaway County student in grades 8-11 to obtain supplemental professional art instruction to stimulate talented students to deepen their artistic skills beyond what they may be able to do in school.
The scholarship is to advance the student’s talent by receiving supplemental professional instruction through classes or workshops approved by the ArtsaRound Scholarship Committee (such as Columbus College of Art & Design Saturday Morning Art Class and/or Creative Summer Workshops). The 2026 scholarship will include up to $450 for classes or workshops in 2026. These funds will be distributed directly to the sponsor of the class/workshop. ***In addition: The scholarship winner will also receive a $100 gift card to Blick Art Materials.***
APPLICATION PROCESS:
The student must submit a completed application requiring basic information about the student and his/her artwork. The nominating art teacher must sign this application. The student must also submit a portfolio including 7-10 images of art created solely by the student, and may include drawings, paintings, photography, ceramics, digital works, mixed media, printmaking, sculptures, et cetera. Self-portraits, still life and figure studies are recommended. Portfolios may include artwork created outside of school art classes, preferably within the past two years. Supporting descriptions of submitted pieces are optional. The portfolio should be emailed in a commonly readable format, such as a Power Point slideshow or PDF portfolio. The student can submit an optional artist's statement, if they wish. This is no more than a paragraph answering the question, "Why do you like to make the art that you make?" Additional information on any art awards achieved by the student may be mentioned.
